Flame on!

Now here’s the news!

Firstly we’ve basically finished our second long player. It’s taken some time to do but one thing besides the songs that will have made the wait worthwhile is guy mixing the thing, the remarkable J. Robbins. All that is left now is some mastering, artwork and a little of this and that. J. Robbins though!

Second is that we are now functioning as a four piece. That might not be news to some of you since we’ve been so for about five months. Damon Kalar and his guitar and his keyboard have joined the group. Damon’s played in other Minneapolis bands such as Daykit and Harp and Finial. Both were great and so is he.

Thirdly. One of the songs from our new album will be released on a clear vinyl 12″ split with songs from these awesome bands; Self-Evident, The Million and Hail Architect. The song’s called “Beast” and it’s a barn burner. There’s a release show happening on the 15th of December at the Turf Club in St. Paul. You can pick it up that night or check back for mail ordering options. You could also come to any show after that and pick up the thing but it would make everyone happy if you came by on the 15th.

That’s all for now. We love you, unless we’ve overheard you talking trash about us or vandalized our van, in which case we don’t even like you.

We have a couple of rock shows coming up here. One is this Friday at the Turf which looks like it could be a barn burner. Come down if you’re not afraid. More news later, but real big news so check back soon.

You should also go here to pick up that amazing compilation we’re proud to a part of.

There’s a benefit show for Callum Robbins on the 17th of March in the Entry that we’re doing along with Arcwelder, Self-Evident, All the way Rider and the Million. There’s an unbelievable comp cd that will be available that night also. With songs from all the bands on that bill and about twenty four others including Mission Of Burma, Channels, The Life and Times, Medications and many more, well twenty more. We’ll let you know where else you can get the cd once we know for sure. We’ll also let you know the official track listing once we know that for sure.
Speaking of benefits, we’re doing a three song set at the turf for the Humane Society on the 24th. Something like 10 bands are playing and they’re all good.

Ken Andrews anyone? Yes, on the 28th. http://varsitytheater.indietickets.com/events/IT_000004_03282007_18

Hope to see you at one or all of these shows. Later alligators.

Hey all! We have news for yous. First ‘Enjoying Fire’ has been hanging out in the top 200 CMJ charts for the last couple of weeks and we hope it stays there. We’re also working on a short tour for the end of February into the first week in March that could end up being eight days long but maybe as little as four, which we’d then have to call an “out and back” as opposed to a “tour”. Go tour! Check the shows page to see what happens. We do however have plans for a fully baked tour late April/May that will see us traveling to the beautiful southwest and back.

In the mean time we have some exciting local shows coming up including one with the Appleseed Cast and Asobi Seksu, another one with Snowden and a benefit show for Callum Robbins that will be incredible.

Here’s a fun review of our friends Alpha Consumer’s CD release show that we did last month. Enjoy.

Story of the Sea.

This is the new Story of the Sea web site and from this point forward it will be maintained by the members of the band, so check back often for updates.

In the meantime, the boys have a couple of shows coming up in Minneapolis and Champlin, MN … check the show page for that info and also check out the Speakerphone Records website for Story of the Sea merchandise, including the new album, “Enjoying Fire”.
